Basingstoke and Deane Sports Awards 2007
Amateur Coach of the Year – Billy Jewers
THE amateur coach of the year award is another accolade for the inspirational Billy Jewers.
Although pleased to accept recognition for his coaching in 2007, he is already thinking about the coming year.
That is hardly surprising with his star pupil, Ben Hazell, in contention for a British team place in the Beijing Olympics.
Jewers, who won the Ron Pickering Coach of the Year award from the British Athletics Supporters Club, coaches a large group of multi-event performers, who come to Down Grange, in Basingstoke, from all over the South of England.
