LONDON Irish staged a great second half comeback, but it was all in vain as they lost 36-21 at Northampton Saints in the Premiership.

The Exiles trailed 24-0 at the break and the home side added another try, before the visitors scored 21 unanswered points from three converted tries.

This was thanks to Andrew Fenby, Shane Geraghty and Jebb Sinclair as they all scored in the space of a seven minute spell. Geraghty kicked all three conversions.

With only eight points between the sides a forward pass from Tom Homer to Marland Yarde denied them another try, before Northampton wrapped up the scoring.

Irish are next in Premiership action on Saturday May 3 away at Gloucester.
