THERE was little or no joy for north Hampshire rugby teams last weekend, with the two who managed to beat the weather suffering defeats.

Overton RFC remain bottom of Hampshire One after losing 22-8 at home to US Portsmouth. They are now 14 points from safety and look doomed to an immediate return to Hampshire Two. Next up is a trip to fifth-placed Millbrook on Saturday.

Kingsclere RFC were the only other side to avoid a postponement – but they may wish they had been washed out after going down 70-0 at home to Wheatley in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship.

They too look destined to finish bottom of the table, having failed to win a single game all season. They have also failed to raise a side on two occasions, meaning they have -8 points, 18 less than Winslow, the side above them, who they travel to on Saturday.

In the same division, Aldermaston RFC had their trip to Didcot postponed. They sit fifth and travel to ninth-placed Faringdon on Saturday.

Tadley RFC remain 12 points clear at the top of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship despite having their trip to Hungerford postponed. The gap could get even bigger on Saturday as Tadley host second-placed Bicester at Red Lane.

Chineham RFC’s home game against Fawley in Hampshire Two was also rained off. They sit fifth in the table ahead of a trip to third-placed Locksheath Pumas on Saturday.
