TADLEY RFC go into the Christmas break 11 points clear at the top of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier table after claiming maximum points from their trip to Chesham on Saturday.

Visiting Tadley opened the scoring within the first two minutes, Johnny Berwick crossing the whitewash, while further tries from Charles Cox, Gareth Cripp-Jones and Tom Bartlett also touched down before the break to put Tadley 24-0 ahead.

Berwick’s second try of the match opened the scoring in the second half, while Byron Bartlett and Craig Raymond were Tadley’s other scorers as they completed a 45-0 victory.

Both Aldermaston and Kingsclere suffered defeat in their final Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship matches of 2013.

Aldermaston are down to fourth in the table after losing 27-5 at home to Abingdon. The visitors dominated the first half and led 24-5 at the break, Joe Wood scoring Aldermaston’s lone try, but the home side improved after the break, holding Abingdon to a single penalty.

Kingsclere remain bottom of the table with -3 points after losing 27-5 at Faringdon. They are now 10 points adrift at the foot of the table.

Chineham sit fifth in the Hampshire Two table going into the festive break after winning 16-8 at Aldershot and Fleet on Saturday.

A penalty from Kris Ford had Chineham ahead but the hosts scored a penalty and then a try to lead 8-3. However, Chineham drew level before the break, Ford beating two men to touch down.

The visitors dominated the game after the break and scored the crucial try through Jonty Moody, with Ford kicking a late penalty to make the points safe.

Overton had to settle for a losing bonus point from their home game against Alton in Hampshire One. Only two penalties were kicked in the whole 90 minutes, with Alton getting both to win 6-0.

The result means that Overton remain bottom of the table going into Christmas, seven points from safety.
