TADLEY Tigers RFC celebrated the official opening of their new stand by beating Hungerford Hurricanes 61-0 on Saturday.

Second-row Byron Bartlett opened the scoring with a try, before fly-half Craig Raymond kicked two penalties. Hungerford then had their captain sent to the sin-bin and the hosts took full advantage, centre Charlie Cox, captain Peter Rosier and Raymond going over before the break to give the hosts a 32-0 lead at half-time.

Further tries from Luke Titley, Ben Anderson, Tom Bartlett, Jake Cottrell and Adam Stanley completed a convincing victory in the second half.

The win means Tadley maintain their 100 per cent record in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier, which they lead by four points ahead of a trip to Bicester this weekend.

Overton RFC were unable to complete a dramatic comeback as they lost 20-14 away at US Portsmouth in Hampshire One on Saturday.

The hosts led 15-0 at half-time but Overton, who are bottom of the table, hit back bravely after the break, with scrum-half San Sumpter and Marc Meggison both going over to reduce the lead to a single point.

Winless Overton pressed for more points but were hit on the break and had to settle for just a losing bonus point, though they were applauded off the field by the home crowd.

The Laverstoke Park side face a tough test this weekend, when they host third-placed Millbrook.

Chineham RFC lost a bad-tempered Hampshire Two game away at Fawley 37-10, a final score that flattered the hosts.

The visitors opened the scoring, Kris Ford crossing for a try, but Fawley responded almost immediately with a score of their own.

A catch and drive gave the visitors their second try of the game after half-time, but Fawley scored an important try against the run of play and ran away with the game as an injury-hit Chineham side tired late on.

Chineham sit sixth in the table ahead of Saturday's home game against Locksheath Pumas, who are just above them.

Aldermaston RFC are level on points with the second-placed team in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship after beating visiting Didcot 19-5 on Saturday.

First-half tries from Joe Wood and Jonny Newman had Aldermaston 12-0 up at the break, while Dean Smith extended the lead by touching down in the second half.

The victory was marred by serious injuries sustained by Aldermaston players Darrell Knight and Dan Vince, with Vince requiring a trip to hospital.

The match was held up for 30 minutes while an ambulance was called and Didcot reduced the deficit after the restart, while Aldermaston were unable to score a fourth try and secure a bonus point that would have left them second in the table.

Bottom side Kingsclere were thumped 138-10 by high-flying Wheatley. They host fellow strugglers Winslow on Saturday, while Aldermaston travel to Faringdon.
