BASINGSTOKE RFC failed to bounce back to winning ways as they lost 57-35 at Teddington in London Three South West.
The loss leaves Stoke eight points behind third Old Cranleighans after their win at US Portsmouth with three games to play.
They are also tied on the same number of points as Old Tiffinians and with two of their final three games against the top two teams in the league, Basingstoke may find it hard to hold on to a top four finish.
Next weekend, they have no game with their next being at home to second placed Eastleigh on Saturday March 25.
