BUCKY’S Allstars were crowned the winners of the inaugural Clarke and Son Basingstoke Summer Touch League after seven weeks of competition.

They were undefeated during the season winning all eight games and scoring 60 touchdowns.

In second place were the Old Gits and Habana’s in Pyjamas came third.

In the Mini Mixed League Team Unicorn beat Use It or Lose It and The Clarke and Son Barbarians to claim the title.

Individual awards for the league were won by Reece Palmer of the Old Gits for top scorer.

Drew Paterson of the Wolf Pack picked up the elageu's most valuable player accoldade.

With this being the first time they have run the league and the support from those who organised the teams, refereed and played has been fantastic.

The challenge now is not just to see the league grow but to support those players who wish to develop their skills further.

If you have been inspired by the success of the British teams at rugby sevens at the Olympics or are looking to get back into the sport Basingstoke RFC has plenty of opportunities The men’s and academy (players aged 16 to 18) train on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7.15pm to 9pm.

Ladies training is on Wednesday evening between 7pm and 8.30pm.

Touch Rugby (non-contact) takes place on Mondays nights (6:30 to 8pm).

Mini/Junior training is on Sundays from 10am, with girls training on Sunday afternoon from 1pm.

All ages and abilities welcome, just come on down and be a part of the action.

l Basingstoke RFC start their pre-season this evening (7.30pm) when they entertain local rivals Tadley Tigers.

Then on Saturday September 3 (1pm), Stoke entertain London Welsh A.

Basingstoke start their league campaign at Farnham (September 10), before their home opener against Weybridge on September 17.
