LONDON IRISH were unable to stop Bath moving up to second in the Premiership, as they lost 33-23 to the visitors to the Madejski Stadium.

The visitors led 16-6 at half-time, thanks a penalty try and 11 points from the boot of Gavin Henson, while Shane Geraghty’s replied with two penalties for the home side.

Bath made the perfect start after the break, as Henry Thomas scored a try, but the hosts were quick to reply from David Paice as he crashed over. Geraghty then added the conversion and then a penalty.

Chris Cook extended the visitors lead again with a try, as Henson complete a three from three record with the conversion, before he kicked his fourth penalty of the game.

Irish wrapped up the scoring with a late consolation try from James Short, which Geraghty converted.

They will hope to do better when Gloucester are the visitors to the Madejski Stadium a week today (kick-off 1pm).
