LONDON Irish suffered their second defeat in the LV= Cup, as they lost at Wasps 43-22.
The opening stages saw the kickers trade blows, and the Exiles led 6-3, as Myles Dorrian kicked over twice and Wasps’ fly-half Alex Lozowski replied.
Soon after, the home side took the lead, as Simon McIntyre crashed over and Lozowski added the extras.
The sides then swapped two penalties each, before Irish took a 19-16 lead by half-time as Leo Halavatau scored and Dorrian converted.
After the break, the visitors extended their lead thanks to a Dorrian penalty, but Wasps took a 23-22 lead as Josh Basset went in at the corner and Lozowski kicked the extras.
From then on the home side dominated, as they run out 43-33 winners, after Guy Thompson and Elliot Daly scored tries and Lozowski converted both as well as adding two more penalties.
Irish will hope to bounce back to winning ways on Saturday (kick-off midday), when they return to Premiership action at lowly Sale.
