IT WAS A WEEKEND of firsts in Hampshire Two, with Overton RFC claiming their first win, while Chineham Lions went down to their first defeat.

Overton enjoyed a comprehensive 62-8 victory over bottom side Nomads at Laverstoke Park, a result that lifts them up to seventh in the table, while Chineham lost 34-5 away at Southampton.

Despite the defeat, Chineham remain third and will look to return to winning ways on Saturday, when they host Aldershot and Fleet. Overton face a tough trip to second-placed Ventnor.

Kingsclere were on the wrong end of a 58-16 defeat when league leaders Locks Heath Pumas visited and they travel to Nomads, the only side below them in the table, on Saturday.

Aldermaston RFC lost for the second week in a row, going down 26-13 at home to Crowthorne in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship despite tries from Jaco Meyer and James Atkins. They are down to fifth in the table as a result and face a daunting trip to leaders Risborough on Saturday.
