TADLEY Tigers' wait for their first win of the season goes on after they were beaten by a last-minute penalty on Saturday.

The match saw Tadley host Farnham, the only side below them in the London Two South West table going into the game, but it was the visitors who drew first blood.

Tadley had a Peter Rosier try disallowed because the referee could not be sure that the ball had been grounded and Farnham took the lead with a converted try.

The hosts responded well, with two Craig Raymond penalties reducing the deficit to a single point before Jake Cotterill and Gareth Cripps crossed the line to put Tadley 18-10 ahead at half-time.

A converted try in the early stages of the second half reduced the Tigers advantage to a single point but they looked set to hold on for the win when Farnham knocked the ball on in the final minute.

Unfortunately, Tadley were unable to win their own scrum cleanly and were penalised at the resulting breakdown to concede a penalty on the 22, which the Farnham fly-half kicked to secure his side a 20-18 victory.

The result saw the visitors leapfrog Tadley, who are now bottom of the league going into a trip to eighth-placed Old Reigatian on Saturday.
