CHINEHAM RFC claimed the local bragging rights with a 73-10 victory away at Kingsclere in Hampshire Two on Saturday.

The visitors made a fast start, scoring their opening try inside the first five minutes, and they never looked back, crossing the line at regular intervals to clock up an impressive victory.

The result leaves Chineham top of the table thanks to high-scoring victories in their first two games, while Kingsclere are near the bottom after suffering two defeats.

Overton have also made a slow start to the season and they lost 46-7 at home to Locksheath Pumas at the weekend.

Tadley Tigers claimed their first London Two South West point of the season on Saturday, but their hunt for a first win of the campaign continues.

The Tigers picked up a losing bonus point after going down 21-15 away at Portsmouth but the defeat was their third in a row at the start of the season.

Tadley made a decent start but some lax defending led to an opening score for the hosts. A penalty from full-back Chris Dennison reduced the arrears and Tadley then enjoyed a purple patch, with winger Gareth Cripps-Jones and scrum-half Jake Cottrell crossing the line for tries before half-time.

However, Portsmouth improved after the break and made the most of some sustained pressure to score the match-winning try.

Elsewhere, Aldermaston sit proudly at the top of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship after making it three wins out of three at the start of the season with a 35-20 victory away at Harwell.

Harwell were first to score, touching down for a try, but Kyle Gregory’s penalty and Cary Jackson’s try, successfully converted by Gregory, had Aldermaston in front.

Better was to follow as Gregory scored an excellent individual try and Gary Homewood also crossed the line, with Gregory converting both scores to make it 24-10 at the break.

Harwell scored two tries to reduce the lead to just four points going into the closing stages, but two penalties from Gregory and a try from Ben Crew settled matters in their favour.
