REPORT - London Irish 22 Sale Sharks 20
LONDON Irish signed off their Premiership campaign with a great second half comeback to beat visiting Sale Sharks 22-20 at the Madejski Stadium.
The Exiles outscored the Sharks by three tries to two with Andrew Fenby scoring an outstanding winning try 17 minutes from time.
The visitors were first on the board after a well worked line out, saw forward Mark Easter dive in and Joe Ford added a tricky conversion.
Irish hit back immediately with a great team score from Fenby, and James O’Connor kicked the extras to level things.
Sale once again took the lead from a converted try from Tom Arscott and the visitors extended their advantage to 17-7 thanks to Ford’s penalty.
On the stroke of half-time, Irish were awarded a kickable penalty which O'Connor made no mistake with.
After the break, Sale scored the first points from a Ford penalty, but the home side hit back as Marland Yarde in his final appearance for the club scored a try which O’Connor converted.
The Exiles completed a great comeback, as Fenby scored his second try of the match and the victory saw Irish finish the Premiership season in 10th spot.
