TADLEY extended their lead at the top of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier table to 16 points with a 23-5 victory over closest challengers Bicester.

The Oxfordshire side remain the only team to have beaten Tadley RFC in the league this season but a repeat never looked on the cards, despite the Tigers having to move the game to Newbury RFC due to the pitches at Red Lane being waterlogged.

Tadley had a strong wind behind them in the first half and took the lead through the boot of fly-half Craig Raymond, while a catch and drive led to scrum-half Jake Cottrell crossing the line to make it 8-0 inside the opening 10 minutes.

The hosts were well on top and extended their lead to 13-0 with a try from Gareth Cripps-Jones. They then lost Charlie Cox to a yellow card but went in at half-time 20-0 ahead after flanker Ben Anderson forced his way over following a good break from second row Bryn Filer.

Tadley found things more difficult playing against the wind in the second half and their task was made even harder when they lost Cox to a second yellow card following a high tackle.

Hooker Jonny Owen was also sent to the sin-bin with 20 minutes left and the visitors made the most of their spell against 13 men, running in an unconverted try.

Tadley pushed for the bonus-point try late on but were only able to add three more points from the boot of Raymond.

The league leaders face a trip to another one of their closest rivals, third-placed Hungerford, on Saturday.

Kingsclere RFC managed to avoid defeat for the first time this season last weekend, holding hosts Winslow to an 8-8 draw in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship.

The match saw the bottom two do battle but Kingsclere remain at the foot of the table on -8 points, well below the sides above them.

Aldermaston saw their home game against Faringdon postponed and the sides will try again on Saturday, while Kingsclere are without a game.

Overton RFC remain rooted to the bottom of Hampshire One after losing 44-0 away at Millbrook on Saturday.

It's been a really hard season for the Laverstoke Park club, who were promoted from Hampshire Two last summer but have only amassed nine points from 17 games so far. They are without a game this weekend.

Chineham RFC's Hampshire Two trip to Locksheath Pumas was postponed. They host Fawley, who are just above them in the table, on Saturday.
