Basingstoke RFC Dragons suffer big defeat
BASINGSTOKE Dragons suffered a 47-5 defeat at home to London Irish Wanderers last Saturday.
It was better news the following day as the Academy side enjoyed a 60-12 success.
The Dragons will look to bounce back to winning ways this weekend, when they face a visit from Southampton Medics.
The Griffins will be desperate for a win when they entertain Sandown and Shanklin, while the Cavaliers face Millbrook and the fifth team are at home to Aldershot and Fleet II. All games kick-off at 2pm.
The under-16s turned in an excellent team performance as they beat visiting Ellingham and Ringwood 53-0.
The home side took just five minutes to open the scoring as outside centre Guy Black went over and Matt Kouris kicked over the extras.
From a ’Stoke lineout close to the visitors’ try line, prop Zack Lewis went over for the next score, but Kouris missed the difficult conversion.
The home side added a third try to their tally as scrum-half Theo Pritchard got the ball and threw a dummy before he crossed the line. Kouris converted for a 19-0 lead.
’Stoke added seven more points when Charlie Stoner did the spade work for Lewis to score his second try of the game, Kouris adding the extras.
After the interval, ’Stoke scored again from Henry Edwards and scored again when Kouris sprinted in from the 22 after a good forward drive. His conversion made the score 38-0.
Dominant ’Stoke added three more tries through Ed King, Abrahams and Black.
The Basingstoke under-15s beat Wimborne 31-24.
George Cotterell and Dan Mairs both scored a brace of tries, while Ewan Watson converted three of the four scores. Man-of-the-match was Adam Warner.
