'Stoke suffer defeat at Bury St Edmunds
BASINGSTOKE RFC's tough start to their National League Three South campaign continued with a 25-10 defeat at Bury St Edmunds.
This after the visitors got off to a great start as they scored in the second minute after the home side had been reduced to 14 men.
’Stoke took full advantage and from a ruck the returning Adam Davies found Freddie Gleadowe, who went over for a try. Davies then added the conversion for a 7-0 lead.
In a very even first 40 minutes the home side levelled with their own converted try to make it 7-7 at the break.
After the interval, Bury St Edmunds edged in front thanks to a penalty and then they centre added a try which was unconverted.
’Stoke kept themselves in touch as Davies kicked over a penalty to reduce the arrears to 15-10.
As the game entered the final 10 minutes, Bury St Edmunds added another converted try and penalty to complete the victory.
