Chineham suffer defeat

CHINEHAM were the only north Hampshire rugby club to play a game last weekend – but they found Hampshire Two leaders Solent University too hot to handle, losing 45-3.

Hosts Chineham got off to a poor start, conceding two early tries, but the final score was somewhat harsh on the home team, who showed great intensity throughout and put in some excellent tackles.

Chineham remain eighth in the table ahead of a trip to Alresford on Saturday, when they will be looking to put added distance between themselves and the bottom three.

There will be a top-of-the-table clash at Overton, where the second-placed hosts take on Solent University knowing they must win to keep their hopes of winning the league alive.

In Southern Counties North, Tadley travel to fellow strugglers Wallingford with the chance to overtake their hosts by winning.

Kingsclere were handed a walkover when visiting Faringdon failed to raise a team last week and are up to sixth in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship table as a result. They travel to struggling Winslow this week, while Aldermaston, who are eighth, are next to host bottom side Faringdon.
