KP's 99 overshadows Carberry debut

HAMPSHIRE'S Michael Carberry today made his England Test debut, but it was his Hampshire colleague Kevin Pietersen who stole the show.

Carberry was chosen to partner captain Alistair Cook at the top of the order in the first Test against Bangladesh.

But the Rose Bowl star failed to last until lunch - out for 30 after an early flurry of boundaries.

Cook went on to celebrate his first game as England's Test captain with an unbeaten 139 as the tourists dominated the opening day.

However, it was Carberry's Hampshire colleague Pietersen who stole the headlines by showing a return to form with a sizzling 99 before being bowled by Abdur Razzak.
