Eastleigh 31 Millbrook 8

MILLBROOK did their utmost to cause an upset before heading back to the county leagues.

'Brook kept in touch with their opponents during the first half, answering a Matt Blackman try, which was converted by Phil Baldwin, with a penalty just before the whistle.

Both sides were struggling to put meaningful attacking opportunities to good use in the damp conditions but it was Eastleigh, who have already secured second spot in London 3 South-West and with it promotion, who got back on the scoreboard.

Arron Enock raced clear down the right wing to cross in the corner and Baldwin slotted home the conversion.

The home side’s third try came when Jack Berry found a gap in the defence to power over the line and Baldwin kept his 100 per cent record by kicking the extras.

Brook refused to go home without going over the line and their score came when replacement Chris Fox picked up a down field kick to touch down.

Trojans’ winning run came to an end at Stoneham Lane at the hands of fourth-placed Old Tiffinians.

Tiffs took an early lead but were pegged back level when hooker Lewis Bourke charged up field from the half-way line and fed fullback Joby Kochanowski, who cut through the defence to pass on to second row Neil Andrews. Chris Boyd added the extras.

However Old Tiffinians struck twice before the break and Trojans failed to make anything from a bright start in the second period.

They dominated much of the first 20 minutes and had plenty of possession throughout the half but could not make the pressure count and saw their visitors bundle the ball over the line and convert in the final five minutes.
