Hampshire’s Liam Dawson was named man of the series after helping the South to a 3-0 series win against the North.

The 27 year-old made105 runs at 52.05 and took five wickets at 22 apiece with his slow left-armers, conceding less than four runs an over.

He said: “I’m very happy to win the award and win 3-0 from the position we were in. They were 120-2, so to win the series was exceptional.

“I wouldn’t say I put in star performances, I was consistent, and that’s the kind of cricketer I am. I can be consistent and thankfully that’s paid off in this series.

“It’s brilliant being involved with England and this series but we have a big domestic summer coming up with Hampshire and I have to be consistent and put in big performances there.

“We have got three massive Championship games coming up in April, whoever puts performances in there could get picked.

“I’m no different, I have to put performances in in domestic cricket, if I do that I will hopefully get in the squads. We have domestic cricket from 7 April. Form can change quickly.”

South captain James Vince said: “We’re quite a quiet bunch, but we were quietly confident. Even when they were 100-2, that belief was still there. As soon as we had a sniff we jumped all over them.”
