SAINTS this Sunday return to Wembley for the club’s first League Cup final since 1979.
On that occasion, Lawrie McMenemy’s side led lost 3-2 to Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest – after leading 1-0 at half-time.
David Peach and Nick Holmes – the only two survivors of Saints’ previous Wembley final – were the two goalscorers against a Forest side that lifted the European Cup two months later.
Though not as famous as the FA Cup win three years earlier, it is still the only other occasion Saints have taken part in a major cup final at Wembley.
We want to hear from fans who were there at the national stadium 38 years ago.
Did you go? What do you remember of the day? Have you got a great story for Saints’ only League Cup final appearance in front of a crowd of 100,000?
