Hampshire captain James Vince was out for 16 in the first Test against Pakistan at Lord's today.

The 25 year-old was desperate for a big score after averaging 13.5 in his debut Test series against Sri Lanka.

He got off the mark fifth ball by nailing a cover drive for four against Mohammad Amir.

But after clipping Yasir Shah for a second boundary through mid-wicket he was trapped lbw by the leg-spinner.

He left the field after a review showed the ball, which did not turn, to be clipping leg stump.

England were 139-3 at that stage, following a second-wicket stand of 110 between Alastair Cook and Joe Root (48).

They were 153-4 at tea after Gary Ballanace (6) was also lbw to Shah (3-22), with Cook still there on 75.
