Dorset’s recreational club cricketers will have former West Indies fast bowler Tino Best whistling the ball around their ears when they face Hampshire in tonight’s Twenty20 Challenge at the Bashley (Rydal) ground, near New Milton, starting at 5pm.
They have named a squad of 13 players, ten of them from the locally based ECB Southern Premier League, including five Bashley locals.
The match, which is being played with white balls and black sightscreens, is in preparation for Hampshire’s NatWest Twenty20 Blast which begins against Middlesex at Uxbridge next Friday.
Hampshire: Carberry, Adams, Wheater, Ervine, Dawson, McLaren, Smith, Andrew, Stevenson, Crane, Best.
Dorset: Khan, Scott, Webb, Porter, Jacques, Park, Trueman, Wolstenholme, Digby, Lilley, Park, Warner, Currie.
Spectators should park their vehicles in the Bashley football ground, directly opposite the cricket pitch. Full bar and refreshment facilities will be available.
