TOM Barber took three wickets in each game as Hampshire 2nds ‘drew’ a T20 double header against Surrey.

The tall left-armer took 3-12 from three overs as Hampshire won the first match.

And he took 3-32 from another three-over spell as Surrey won the second by four wickets, with eight balls to spare, at Purley CC.

Hampshire made 172-6 in the first game thanks to Lewis McManus’s unbeaten 37 (28 balls) and quickfire contributions from Joe Gatting (34), Sean Terry (26) and Tom Alsop (31), who all scored at a strike rate of 160-plus.

Chris Wood (2-1-5-2) and Brad Wheal (2-0-13-1) made early inroads and leg-spin talent Mason Crane (2-0-5-1) ensured a 94-run win after Barber’s three-wicket salvo.

Owais Shah made a 59-ball 68, including four sixes, and Wood an unbeaten 26 (21 balls) as Hampshire made 150-6 after batting first again in the second match.

But Surrey chased them down, despite the best efforts of Liam Dawson (4-1-17-1) and a wicket apiece for Wheal and Brad Taylor.
