Winchester put recent league defeats behind them with a 29-24 victory at Old Reigatian which guarantees them third spot in London 2SW.

Winch soaked up a couple of minutes pressure from the home side before Connor Breen put them 3-0 up from a penalty. Outside centre Alex Tickle then got his side’s first try of the day when he crossed the line close to the corner flag.

Full back Seb Purvis made the most of a gaping hole in OR’s defence following four phases of quick handling from Winchester’s forwards and backs.

Breen later touched down and converted after an opponent illegally kicked the ball out of a scrum and into his hands.

Old Reigatian finally got over the line but, after another Breen penalty, Winchester led 23-5.

He was successful with another two in the second half but the majority of play belong to a much-improved ORs side who crossed the line three times but fell just short of their opponents’ total.
