Winchester’s hopes of promotion may have all but disappeared – but they are still playing for pride.

And they will have to do that with a much-changed side against London 2 South-West bottom club Farnham at North Walls tomorrow following a series of injuries sustained in last weekend’s narrow loss to Effingham & Leatherhead.

Captain Zach Kinnaird suffered a serious knee injury, Will Self damaged an ankle and Michael West broke his jaw.

Coach Andy Fields said: “This means a re-jig to the entire back row. Loose head Alex Lee will have to play number 8.

“Farnham have everything to play for but we have our pride and I expect another brave performance.”

Tottonians can take another step towards the title, and promotion, with a win at Tadley who are trying to avoid the drop.

Totts have several players unavailable but Dan Stocks returns from injury at number 8 and Ieuan Williams moves to blindside.

Josh Andrews makes his first appearance for his side this season with a place on the wing.

Totts’ coach Gavin Williams said: “We have had to make a few changes but when you look at it there is only one new player, Josh Andrew. who has been out injured; the other guys we have coming in are all regular first team players.”

But Williams, whose side has suffered just one defeat this term, is taking nothing for granted.

He added: “They (Tadley) had a close match against Alleynians last week and Alleynians are no mugs.

“Tadley are scrapping for their lives and when that happens teams perform above the level they have throughout the season.

“It really matters now for them and we are expecting a tough ride.

“We are going to have to be on top of our game to get what we want – a five-point win.”
