No quarter was given as the top three rugby teams battled on for London 2 South-West honours.

Tottonians put their foot on the accelerator over the final 40 minutes to get a bonus point win at Effingham & Leatherhead.

At the same time, Winchester clocked up a big score against KCS Old Boys and London Cornish defeated Portsmouth 13-3.

Winchester were behind on ten minutes as KCS crossed the line first at North Walls following an exchange of penalties in the opening stages.

But three tries put the home side in the driving seat at 24-13 up at the break.

First, Number 8 Matt Golding came off the back of a scrum to ground the ball.

Captain Jake Hiscock then made a great individual break to touch down under the posts and fly half Greg Sullivan broke free to score.

The bonus point try came just two minutes into the second half when full back Tom Forster went over in the corner and second row Zak Kinnaird followed shortly after. Rob Rees snatched a pass out of the air to go over under the posts as the tries kept coming.

Chris Keegan brought up the 50 points when he touched down in the same place.

Battling KCS got a deserved try for their efforts, but there was still time for another two from Winchester – replacement Matt Lown squeezed over in the corner and Sullivan fed Pat Cheshire for the final try.

Scrum half Breen missed just one kick all day – contributing 15 points to his team’s 62-18 victory.

Coach Andy Fields said: “It was a good performance, particularly after the long break that we have had, so I’m pleased they held it together.

“There were good combinations between the backs and the forwards.

“We are going to need to keep improving if we want to beat London Cornish next week and compete with Totts.

“There are things to work on but I will take that performance today.”

Winchester travel to Cornish next weekend.
