Hampshire trio Sean Terry, Tom Alsop and Lewis McManus have all signed new contracts, keeping them at the Ageas Bowl until the end of the 2016 season.

The contracts of all three players were due to expire at the end of 2015, but the trio have now committed to the LV= County Championship Division Two champions.

The news is a further triple boost for Hampshire, who last week saw captain Jimmy Adams, seam bowler James Tomlinson and spinner Danny Briggs all sign new contracts Terry, 23, currently plying his trade for Melville CC in Perth during the off-season, made his debut for Hampshire in April 2012.

Despite suffering a frustrating start to the 2014 season due to injury, the right-hander was Hampshire’s stand-out batsman in the Royal London One-Day Cup campaign, averaging 42 across the competition.

Terry said: “I am over the moon to be signing an extension - the club has some really exciting and challenging times ahead and it’s great to know I will be around to be a part of it.”

Wicketkeeper-batsman Alsop burst onto the scene in 2013 at the age of 17 when he was called upon to keep during Hampshire’s List A match against Lancashire at the Ageas Bowl after an injury to Adam Wheater.

After continuing to impress for the Hampshire Second XI and England Under 19s during the 2014 season, the left-hand batsman made his first-class debut for the club against Kent in September. Alsop said: “It’s really nice that the Club have shown faith in me and hopefully I can make the most of the opportunity.

“The aim is to keep developing my game in the Second XI and look to cement a place in the first team over the next few years.” Wicketkeeper-batsman McManus, 20, has come through the ranks from the Hampshire Academy and has regularly impressed both behind the stumps and with the bat for the Second XI during 2014.

The right-hand batsman showed his potential for a bright future with the club after hitting back-to-back centuries in a friendly for Hampshire against Cardiff MCCU in May.

McManus said: “I’m really happy to have signed a new deal – I was pleased with how I played last year and it was great to be a part of a Championship winning team.

It’s going to be difficult due to the strength of the team at the moment, but hopefully I can push for a first team place over the next couple of years.”

Director of Cricket Giles White addedd: “All three are talented young players and will be hoping to push for a place in the starting line up.

“The important thing is for them to develop their games and we are looking forward to seeing them progress over the next two years.”
