Millbrook overcame a tricky hurdle to keep themselves in the Snows Group Hampshire 1 promotion race.

Brook became the first team to get the better of Petersfield on their own ground when they returned to Five Acres with a 33-18 victory.

The game started well for the visitors and they went 6-0 up in the opening quarter through a Rich Colmer penalty and drop goal.

The home team then scored two tries in quick succession, converting one and adding a penalty to put them 15-6 ahead.

Brook picked their game back up and countered the large Petersfield pack – touching down with a pushover try, Leon Brito getting the final touch.

The second half was even better for Brook. Another penalty and drop goal from Rich Colmer saw them take the lead before ’Field had a successful shot at goal themselves.

Replacements Macca McNeish and Gareth Havis showed their worth and debutant Alex Milligan also featured in the second half and looks set to play more first team fixtures.

Brook’s pack dominated most of the close play and were rewarded for their efforts when second row James Henderson chased down a ball and was able to collect and run over the line.

Man of the match Colmer continued his superb form by chipping over the top, collecting and sprinting over the line; he converted both scores.

Captain Mike Randell said: “This was a really strong team performance and we dominated the latter stages of the game by showing a patient, well- executed performance.”
