Hants include Tomlinson and Wheater in T20 Blast squad
Updated 2:48pm Thursday 15th May 2014 in Sport
Hampshire have included James Tomlinson in a 13-man squad for tomorrow night's Natwest T20 Blast opener against Glamorgan at The Ageas Bowl.
Tomlinson has only played two T20 matches throughout his career, the last of which was eight years ago, but is in contention to play tomorrow (7pm start).
James Vince, Hampshire's youngest-ever professional captain, will be leading Hampshire into a new era with Kyle Abbott and Matt Coles both set for their Hampshire T20 debuts.
Adam Wheater has recovered from a finger fracture and may play as a specialist batsman due to Michael Bates' inclusion.
Hampshire's own dance troupe, “The Ageas Angels”, will also be performing for the first time tomorrow. The group will be joined by the “Hampshire Halos”, a younger dance troupe who will perform before play starts.
Other off-the-field activities include fairground stalls and rides, a parade of more than 200 young people from schools and cricket clubs and an exciting new inflatable speed-bowling cage aimed at finding Hampshire's next fast bowler. After the game, Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove’s band, “Strapped for Cash”, will entertain the crowds on the ground’s berm with a mix of classic rock and pop hits.
Hampshire (from): Vince (capt), Carberry, Adams, Dawson, Ervine, Wheater, Abbott, Coles, Briggs, Tomlinson, Smith, Gatting, Bates.
