Southampton-born Mike Brown is the favourite to win the RBS 6 Nations Player of the Championship.

The former Peter Symonds College schoolboy was the joint top try scorer after doubling his tally with two tries against Italy on Saturday. Full-back Brown, 28, topped all the stats; he also had the most clean breaks (ten), beat the most defenders (25) and gained the most metres (543m). He is joined by England team-mates Danny Care, Owen Farrell and Chris Robshaw.

Champions Ireland provide Cian Healy, Jamie Heaslip, Rob Kearney, Brian O’Driscoll, Jonathan Sexton and Andrew Trimble.

The list is completed by Wales back-row pair Sam Warburton and Taulupe Faletau, Scotland number eight David Denton, French backs Brice Dulin and Yoann Huget, plus Italy hooker Leonardo Ghiraldini.

Players have been nominated following a points-scoring system covering a number of different performance categories, and the winner will be decided by a public vote. Voting closes at midnight tomorrow.

Surprisingly the list does not include England centre Luther Burrell, locks Joe Launchbury and Courtney Lawes or Wales midfield powerhouse Jamie Roberts.
