BEACONSFIELD Cricket Club have secured a major signing for next season with Bucks captain Jason Harrison coming on board as player/coach.
Harrison, who filled Wycombe’s trophy cabinet before moving to Oxford, takes up his new role officially in March.
He said: “I was fortunate that several really good clubs wanted me, but Beaconsfield was the stand-out project.
“The chairman and captain have a vision to get the club back to where it should be, and I want to help them achieve it.
“I remember when I was growing up, Beaconsfield was the top of the tree, and when the [Home Counties] Premier League started they were one of the founding members.
“They should certainly be higher than the Thames Valley League, and the long-term goal has to be the Premier League.
“But it’s not going to happen overnight, the first job is to stabilise the club.”
And Harrison says he want to realise the club’s ambitions without shedding its homegrown policy.
He said: “When I started at Wycombe we were in a bit of state. But we backed our young players and it will be a similar philosophy at Beaconsfield.”
