WASPS will trust the main kicking duties to Dave Walder and Mark van Gisbergen this season now that Danny Cipriani has gone.

Walder boasted one of the highest conversion rates in the Premiership last season, while van Gisbergen was consistently good when he was the regular kicker in the past.

Director of rugby Tony Hanks said: “Gizzy and Dave are the two specialists.

“Giz started goal kicking on Saturday – his first one wasn’t great but then he found his boots and kicked well.

“He is proven to be one of the best kickers in the Premiership when he’s kicking regularly.

“Dave is also proven and we’re doing some work with Joe Simpson and Ben Jacobs, who have been part-time kickers in the past.

“We’re also more than confident that Riki [Flutey] could do the job.”
