A wheelchair belonging to Wycombe Wanderers was taken from Adams Park without permission after Saturday’s FA Cup match and later found in the toilets of a pub in Birmingham.

According to a Birmingham-based Facebook group, the wheelchair was taken by travelling Aston Villa fans after they watched their side draw 1-1 with the High Wycombe team.

A Chairboys spokesman has now confirmed that they had given the wheelchair – which is used to help disabled fans, or people with mobility problems – to an Aston Villa supporter, but was not returned to the club following the match.

Hours after the game, the wheelchair was found in a Birmingham pub, with plans now in place for a Wanderers supporter to drive north and collect it.

WWFC spokesman, Matt Cecil, said: “Wycombe Wanderers can confirm that a wheelchair which belongs to the club was removed from Adams Park during the FA Cup third round tie with Aston Villa on Saturday.

“The wheelchair was requested by a visiting supporter before the match but was not returned to the club’s possession, and was later found in a pub in the Birmingham area.

“The club would like to thank those Aston Villa fans who reported its whereabouts and are pleased to confirm that a Wycombe Wanderers supporter has volunteered to collect the wheelchair and return it to Adams Park.”

Arrangements were made for the collection after a Birmingham City FC fan Facebook page posted about the discovery of the wheelchair.

Aston Villa fans, who are used to watching their team play Premier League opposition at the weekends, were left disappointed after Wycombe Wanderers held them to a draw.

Travelling supporters acted angrily at the result, with some seen having a pitch-side confrontation with club captain Micah Richards.

The two teams will now meet again in an FA Cup third round replay at Villa Park next week.
