Football fans chipped-in with more than £750 for the High Wycombe Poppy Appeal during a half-time pitch collection at Adams Park.

Members of the Royal British Legion launched the fundraiser appeal in the town on Saturday morning, before heading to the home of Wycombe Wanderers.

Following the collection, organisers said they were “very thankful” for the kind donations from both the home crowd and the travelling Carlisle United fans.

High Wycombe RBL branch chairman Kevin Taylor said: “Every year Wanderers provide unbelievable support and it’s fantastic to see support, not only from the club, but also from the fans.”

He added that they received great support from the away crowd too, who were keen to purchase poppies to take back home.

Dignitaries, including mayor of Wycombe Cllr Mohammed Hanif, chairman of WDC, Cllr Ian McEnnis, and Legion president and lifelong Wanderers fan Monty Seymour, 101, spoke during the interval.

In total, volunteers raised £765.63 on the day.
