GARETH Ainsworth is continuing his flurry of activity in the transfer market with the capture of Brentford’s Aaron Pierre.

The 21-year-old defender, who impressed during a loan spell at Adams Park during the latter stages of last season, arrives from the newly-promoted Championship side on a three-year contract.

It follows the signing this week of Paul Hayes on a two-year contract and Gary Doherty’s pledge to spend another year with Blues following their dramatic League Two survival.

Ainsworth said: “It’s been no secret that I wanted to bring Aaron back to the club and I’m delighted to make him a Wycombe Wanderers player for the next three years.

“He was outstanding for us during his short loan spell and I know the fans will be pleased to see him back in the light and dark blue quarters.

“He’s strong, quick, comfortable with the ball, he's equally comfortable at left back and in the centre, and he has all the attributes to go a long way in the game.”

Pierre arrived at the club at the end of February and played eight times for Blues, scoring a crucial equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Northampton Town on Good Friday.

He played a pivotal part in the club’s mission for league survival and impressed at left-back on the final day of the season at Torquay United, helping the team secure a third clean sheet since his arrival.

Pierre will slot into a defensive line up which has recently seen the departure of Leon Johnson and Marvin McCoy.
