Two matches into the start of the CreativeWebtech sponsored Andover Pool Winter League and there are some very unfamiliar names at the top of all the divisions.
Southampton Arms C are leading the pack in the Premiership following a narrow 5-4 over the Arms Dec, closely followed by a number of teams, including newly- promoted Merlin Misfits.
While being top of Division One, White Hart Penton suffered their first defeat of the season losing 5-4 to the Central Crusaders, who are lying in second place. Angel and Demons are up and running following an excellent 6-3 win over the Southampton Arms D. With three teams not having confirmed their inclusion in the league, the table barely reflects what is happening but it is hoped a few nudges will sort this out.
Clatford Arms Dealers, fresh from a superb last campaign which included promotion and winning the Team B Cup, are top of Division 2 despite losing to the Wolversdene Wanderers 5-4. Lamb Beasties got off to a flyer beating the Andover Golf Club 8-1 to move into second. Sadly, Anton B, after being beaten heavily last week, suffered a whitewash 9-0 loss at home to the Folly Flyers.
Ploughing On, Central Sensations, Wooly B52s and Shire Sharp Shooters are all unbeaten in Division 3. The Sensations have been strengthened with the inclusion of Kara Rees Webbe who is the reigning Ladies Singles champion.
HBT Players and QC Charlatans lead Divisions 4 and 5 respectively.
With a number of matches being called off due to various problems the leagues will be disjointed for a number of matches. For further details on the league visit www.andoverpool.co.uk
