Good season for St Mary Bourne

BOWLS

St Mary Bourne Bowling Club sponsored by KJM Windows finished the season on a high note.

Ken Greenhall, Keith Taylor and John Giles were runners-up in the Basingstoke Triples, and Sandra Grennhall, Ken Greenhall and David Mew, were winners of the Whitchurch League Open triples.

Eileen Wealleans made it through to the finals of the North Hants Ladies Dolly Anstey Competition, losing by a very narrow margin.

In the Whitchurch League there were excellent results with the Hawks, led by Lesley Taylor made it into third place in Division One.

In Division Four Len Mew captained his team into fourth place and the Broad Trophy was regained from Hungerford over a two-leg match.

At the club’s Presentation Dinner at Wyke Down Country Park, where President and Inez Bushnell Competition Secretary Ken Greenhall presented the prizes.

Prizewinners were: Ladies singles champion – Sue Lake; Men’s Champion – Brian Palmer; George Cup – Joyce Smith and Keith Taylor; Novice Cup – John Creasey; Handicap Cup – John Porter; Triples – Angela Cook, Graham Smith and David Mew; Frank Rossiter Cup – David Mew, Sandra Greenhall and Helen Frost; President’s Cup – Ron Randall; Two Wood Singles – Ken Greenhall; Pairs – Brian Palmer and Jim Edevane.

More than £900 was raised during the year for the Chairman’s Charity – the Hampshire and IOW Air Ambulance.
