Andover v Whitchurch United .
(Dango Cup Final).
Holders Andover went into this match as winners for the past four seasons and were up against a Whitchurch side that hadn’t won the trophy since 2001.
The match certainly wasn’t a classic and was really over at half-time as Whitchurch showed the more determination and a solid defensive display. The first opening minutes were even with few chances on either side. Then on ten minutes Whitchurch opened their account with a fine cross from the right found the head of Ashley Lloyd as he rose above everyone to score 1-0. Then six minutes later Whitchurch increased their lead as a cross from the left found Brett Denham unmarked who made no mistake. The game came close to turning as Andover were awarded a penalty but it was saved by Paddy O’Brien in the Whitchurch goal.
The second half produced very little as Whitchurch looked comfortable with their lead and win the Dango Cup for the first time since 2001.
