Breamore v Over Wallop.
Breamore don’t lose many at home but due to a toss of a coin and some brilliant bowling, they found themselves on the wrong end of game which featured 16 wickets falling for only 109 runs.
Wallop chose to field on a slightly squelchy pitch and Roy Cavill and Mike Powell bowled their ten over spells for a miserly 13 and 11 runs respectively. They only took three wickets between them but their consistent control meant scoring was slow and fraught with risk. There was little respite with the change bowlers proving equally adept. Simon Mant finished with a jug-avoiding 4-5 from his eight overs, while Dean Robertson produced his best of the season to end with 3-17.
Chasing 54 should have been a breeze and Robertson made batting look easy with a sparkling 25 but four fell without scoring as Breamore attacked with short pitched bowling and close fielders in the bid to cause a shocking about tur. Frayed nerves were eased by Mant who followed his terrific bowling display with a quickly smashed 15, featuring a towering six over the bowler’s head. His cameo was enough to see the away side to a victory they will remember for some time.
