Abbotts Ann 21 The Bell 34.
This game began evenly and at the end of the first quarter the score was 7-6 to the Bell.
Their defence marked AA shooters tightly and they found it hard to get their shots in. However with Sandy Evans and Kirsty Evers passing around the circle and feeding into the shooters the score crept up to 21-34 at the end of this friendly match.
Andover Storm 37 Stortex 8.
Playing in minus degree temperatures Storms still got off to a flying start.
Storms’ GD Lauren Webbs played well throughout and stopped many chances. The third quarter was their most successful with no goals missed, but this did not reflect on Stortext GD Megan Goddard’s great defensive play throughout.
Vernham Vixens 61 ACES 16.
Despite the freezing conditions Vixens were not put off playing their first match of 2010. Kate Leach worked well with Ali Rickwood and they used every opportunity to get the ball to the shooters to increase the lead. Aces made some excellent interceptions and although a player short never lost their will to play.
Louise Benning worked extremely hard to gain possession but unfortunately this was not enough to hold off Vixens whose positive team spirit demonstrated their desire to win.
