Ton up Tog sets up big 'Parish win

DESPITE missing several key players from their line up, Longparish were much too strong for visiting Fareham and Crofton II on Saturday, defeating them by 162 runs.

Batting forst on a well prepared track the home side lost an early wicket at 20-1 but George Kousseff and teenager Stuart Tognarelli then proceeded to take the bowling apart adding 173 for the second wicket. Tognarelli was in devastating form scoring 130 from 93 deliveries including 19 fours and four sixes - exactly 100 in boundaries and a second successive century.

Kousseff made a more patient but vaulable 40 with his occupationn of the crease. Both lost their wicket at 193 but Longparish added a further 79 runs and the innings closed on 272-9 after 45 overs.

The visitor’s innings never really got off the ground and only two batsmen got into double figures and with 19 extras the total stuttered to 110 all out after 32 overs.

Chris Clarke took 2-16, Barry Blackmore 2-25, Martin Savage 1-30, Matthew Jackman 2-18, Tognarelli 2-15 and Nick Dewnay 1-0.

The most encouraging aspect was the performance of Matt Jackman from the second team who came in at the last minute and scored 18 including four fours and took two wickets as is a player to watch for the future.
