ANDOVER New Street collected their second trophy of the season, as they won the North Hants Senior Cup, beating Tadley Calleva, after a thrilling penalty shoot-out.

This clash between two sides both promoted into the Wessex League Premier Division next season, the first 45 minutes was very flat.

In a classic game of two halves, after the break could not have been more different as six goals were scored.

Tadley were quickest out of the blocks with leading scorer Brett Denham opening the scoring.

New Street hit back from Shane Lock and then Gunner Yates, having his best game of the season, struck a superb free-kick from 30 yards.

Soon after, Jazz Beavis received what many felt was a harsh red card for a tackle.

However, despite going down to 10 men, New Street extended their lead to 3-1, as Zach Neve scored.

With10 minutes to go Tadley pulled one back and then in the eighth minute of added on time they grabbed an equaliser.

With no extra time the game went straight to a penalty shoot-out.

New Street went first up and Callum Sweeney, Luke Neller, Lock and Yates all found the net.

Tadley's fourth penalty was then pushed onto the post by goalkeeper Alex Thompson.

So it was left to Gary Thorne to slot home the winner and start the celebration.

It completed a treble this season over Tadley for New Street and it meant for the third season in row Tadley were runners-up.

A delighted New Street manager John Smith said: "When we started this season I felt we could finish top 10 and win the Andover Open Cup.

"So I am really chuffed to have finished second and got promoted, as well as winning the Andover Open and North Hants, which is a much bigger competition with some good sides in it. I think we just kept getting better and better as the season went on."
