STOCKBRIDGE moved up to seventh in the Hampshire Premier League with a convincing 3-0 on the road at Fleetlands.
Goals from Mark Gardner, Lewis Price-Lloyd and substitute Liam Dufall bagged the Robins a well-deserved three points.
Despite the comprehensive scoreline, it was the hosts who nearly opening the scoring when they struck the post on seven minutes, with Stocks goalkeeper Pete Roberts called into action three minutes later.
After the early flurry Stocks started to get a grip of the game when a fine 25 yard effort from Josh Graham got the home side’s keeper active on 17 minutes making a fine save.
With the visitors piling on the pressure, it was not until five minutes before the break that the deadlock was broken. Price-Lloyd’s drive hit the near post with the rebounded falling nicely for Gardner to slot home.
After the break, the visitors continued in a similar style.
With 10 minutes remaining Price-Lloyd got a deserved goal, slotting the ball home from 12 yards and Dufall rounded off the scoring with five minutes remaining.
Elsewhere in the Sydenham’s Wessex League Division One, Whitchurch United slumped to their third straight defeat, conceding a stoppage time winner to hosts Laverstock & Ford. Lewis Wykes’ header on 93 minutes was enough to see the Jam Boys see a point slip from their grasp. There was more misery for the Jam Boys as they lost to Wessex League Division One table toppers Andover New Street, losing 4-2 (see page 56).
Overton crashed out of the Hampshire Intermediate Cup when they travelled to Montefiore Halls. The hosts walked away 2-0 winners breaking United’s recent good run of results.
