Andover Town beat Cowes Sports 5-1 at the Portway Stadium on Saturday

Town, who had beaten Verwood 5-1 in their previous fixture, cruised to victory with a brace from Reece Rusher and goals from Victor Guitierrez, Shane Lock and in-form Zach Glasspool.

Manager Glenn Burnett made just a single change from last Saturday's side, bringing in Sam Pekun in place of Carlo Santoro.

Town dominated from the off and took the lead after just eight minutes.

A cross from the right fell at the feet of an unmarked Lock, who swept the ball past Edward Hatt to score his 10th goal of the season.

Andover nearly doubled their lead minutes later from a free-kick, which narrowly went over the bar, while Cowes tested Lloyd Thomas with an easily saved effort at the other end.

Another good spell from Andover concluded with their second goal of the game, scored by in-from Glasspool.

The striker, who has scored five times in his last five league, headed home a deflected Pekun shot after it had looped up off a Cowes defender.

Andover extended their lead to 3-0 at half-time when Rusher swept home a partially cleared corner to score his first of the game.

Town had the first chance after the restart when Rusher found Liam Gilbert with a cross.

However the midfielder, making his 50th appearance for the club, flashed the chance narrowly over the bar.

Rusher put Town 4-0 up on the hour mark, with his second of the match.

The winger cut in from the left and his well angled shot found the bottom corner.

Cowes Sports reduced the deficit when Gareth Bricknell was put through on goal and his well-placed shot was slotted out of the reach of Thomas.

The stopper was then forced to make two quick saves before Andover sealed the match with their fifth of the game, deep into injury time.

Rusher assisted substitute Victor Guiterrez, who calmly slotted home to seal all three points for Town.

The win keeps Andover in 10th in the Wessex League Premier.

Town return to action on Tuesday night, when they host Fareham at the Portway.
