ANDOVER Town's five match unbeaten run was brought to an end by promotion chasing Blackfield and Langley on Saturday, with former star Harrison Fay scoring the winning goal.

The ex-Town forward lobbed former team-mate Lloyd Thomas to earn the hosts a 2-1 win at the Gang Warily.

But the Wessex Premier League's second placed side had to comeback from a goal down at half time, after Zach Glasspool gave Town a first half lead.

Despite Andover's recent run of good form, which included four wins in their last five league games, they faced a difficult task away at a promotion chasing Blackfield side.

However it was the visitors who started the better of the two, with Ross Gregory producing the first chance - a header which flew over the crossbar.

Javier Santafe-Vivo went close with a free-kick before Andover finally got their reward on 30 minutes.

Adam Grange picked up a pass in the penalty area and calmly cut the ball back to Glasspool, who fired past Brad Snelling to give Town a first half lead.

Andover continued on the front foot and nearly doubled their advantage when Reece Rusher ran through on goal, only to be denied by a last ditch tackle from the Blackfield defence.

At the other end, the hosts mustered just one shot on goal in the first half, which ended with Town one goal up.

Andover's dominance continued after the break and it took a good save from Brad Snelling to deny Liam Hibberd Town's second of the match.

Suddenly Blackfield sprung into action and almost drew level with two good opportunities, both of which were squandered.

However there was no such wastefulness from 19-goal striker, Jamie White, who picked up the ball and smashed it past Thomas to level the game on 60 minutes.

The Watersiders then struck again minutes later, dealing a cruel blow to the plucky visitors.

Former Town forward Fay, who had been booked minutes earlier, produced a lovely lob which sailed over the head of Thomas and into the net to put his new side 2-1 up.

Andover upped their game in the final minute as they attempted to steal a point from the Gang Warily.

Carlo Santoro, Grange and Rusher all forced good saves from Snelling, while Shane Lock's late effort flew narrowly wide as the game finished 2-1 to Blackfield.

Andover return to action on Saturday with an away game against Horndean.
