A STOPPAGE time equaliser from Ali Brown denied Andover Town a much-needed victory on Saturday, as they were held to a 3-3 draw by near neighbours Amesbury.

The former Whitchurch defender fired home in the 91st minute to earn a point for the Wiltshire visitors.

Town were a goal down inside 15 minutes when Kieran Stephens tapped home a right wing cross.

Amesbury doubled their lead, this time from a corner, which was headed home at the far past by captain Craig Wheeler.

Town looked to be going into half-time 2-0 down, but two goals in five stoppage time minutes saw them draw level shortly before the break.

The first came when Dylan Knight floated a spectacular 35 yard free-kick over the head of Paddy Creese to pull a goal back for the hosts.

Then, in the 5th minute of injury time, Javier Santafe-Vivo curled another free-kick home, this time from just outside the right hand side of the penalty area.

Andover continued on the front foot after the break and took the lead in the 56th minute through Shane Lock.

Town stopper Lloyd Thomas was forced to make a number of smart saves as Amesbury pushed for an equaliser.

However the Wiltshire side were made to wait until the 91st minute to score their third, which was fired home by Brown.

The result moves Andover up one place to 15th ahead of Saturday' home game against mid-table Bashley.
