WHITCHURCH United were comfortably beaten 3-0 by promotion chasers Blackfield and Langley on Saturday.

An eventful game at Whitchurch saw Blackfield take the lead through former Jam Boy Luke Neller’s corner.

However the jury is out on whether the ‘keeper missed his punch or helped it in.

Prior to the goal, the Watersiders had been awarded a penalty which ex-Saint Jamie White scored only for the referee to spot that teammate Sam Wilson had encroached.

But instead of signalling for White to retake it, he gave an indirect free-kick.

The official, Alex James, later retired from the match unwell, so one of his assistants took over.

Luke Winsper and Kane Daysh added second and third goals for Blackfield before Daysh was sent off in the dying seconds for a second yellow card.

The result leaves United in 18th ahead of a crunch derby game with local rivals Andover Town on Saturday.

United will host the Portway side, who sit two places above them in 16th having struggled to recreate their promotion chasing form of last season.

Wednesday's game will be played at Longmeadow, with kick-off at 3pm.
