THE Andover and District Saturday Football League kicked off their new season with an annual 6-a-side competition.

The event, held on Saturday, September 3 at Sutton Scotney Sports Ground, attracted 11 teams.

The teams were split into two divisions meaning each played five games.

Despite the deluge of rain for the knock-out sessions, the competition was another huge success for the ADFL with encouraging high standards of football.

Most of the games were played at an even level with some teams needing a penalty shoot out to determine group stage winners.

King's Somborne eventually came out as winners in the 6-a-side Cup Final, beating local rivals Broughton on penalties.

CK Andover’s two teams ended up winners and runners of the Cliff Allsop Shield.
