ANDOVER New Street boss Paul Reidy has announced he will step down from his role as first team manager.

Reidy revealed to the Advertiser this week that he has resigned from his position at the Wessex League Division One side, citing a desire to ‘take a break’ from football.

The popular coach, who has been first team manager for two seasons, says he still plans to be involved within the club’s support network.

He told the Advertiser: “It will be nice to have a break.

“I’ve got a few other things going on but I will still be involved with the club and want to help them push on.”

This season Reidy guided New Street to a 16th-placed finish, picking up a total of 28 points in 34 games.

Reflecting on their most recent campaign he said: “It’s not been a bad season.

“We started really well and even picked up the league’s club of the month.

“But when you can’t get a settled side it is difficult.

“We don’t pay our players so it is hard because they have work and other commitments but it didn’t help.”

  • Andover New Street have announced former Stockbridge boss Dean Hutchins as Reidy's replacement.
